Is this one new to you? If you are just now hearing about National Brush Day for the very first time and find the thought of it to be a pleasant one, then prepare yourself for all good things! First things first, consider our Columbia, TN team’s quick review: This holiday is brought to you in an effort to wash off the sugars and not-so-fantastic stuff that happens as a result of trick-or-treating and All Hallow’s Eve, as we collectively feel the impetus to revive our exceptional smile habits. Translation? It’s a time to center your thoughts and focus your attention on the very basics of smile care. Why not approach it by age group?
Adults
Yes, as you will notice, National Brush Day is mostly for the kids. However, you are the adult, which means you’re the one who has to get the celebration going. Of course, you also have your own set of teeth, so why not get just as into the day as the kiddos do? Remember that this is a good chance to make shifts in your usual approach to smile care, to stock up on new items for the whole family, to introduce something new into the mix (like new toothpaste), and to simply make a personal decision to stick with completing the best brushing (and flossing) possible!
Teens
We know, of course, that your teenagers might not be over the moon about National Brush Day, the way younger children might be. With that said, it may be a good plan to look for ways to get your teens more interested! For instance, if you’ve been thinking about electric toothbrushes for the family, head out together to shop for toothbrushes, as you let your teen or teens have a say in what you select. Talk about brushing and the importance of smile care along the way!
The Kiddos
You probably can’t help worrying about cavities, while you watch your precious kiddos indulge in lots of candy on Halloween, which is why National Brush Day happening the day after is such a nice respite from the overload! Make the day fun for little ones in any way you see fit and they’re sure to have a blast. Create incentives, make brushing charts for the month, throw a little tooth brushing party. It’s up to you! Just remember to talk about the fact the brushing morning and night (and making the brushing last two minutes) is what good smile care is all about!
