Let Those TMJs Enjoy Some Sweet Rest!

When TMJ disorder takes a hold in your life, you know that it’s time to make some changes! Of course, one of those changes is going to include TMJ treatment. However, as you know, when you’re treating a problem like this, it’s often going to include a bit of extra work in your usual habits to ensure you’re not doing something to make matters worse. As you consider the types of issues that will exacerbate jaw joints problems, you’ll quickly figure out the types of things to avoid at all costs, so your jaw joints can enjoy essential rest.

Watch Your Toothbrush Size

You brush your teeth two times every day at least, if you’re following our instructions for excellent oral health care. While this is wonderful for your smile, it might not be so great for your TMJ disorder if you’re using a brush that’s too big and, as a result, causes you to force your jaw open as wide as possible. Look for and use options that fit with ease, so you’re keeping all aspects of your mouth healthy.

Watch The Size Of Your Bites

How much food would you say you scoop or shovel into your mouth as you eat? Or, do you take delicate little bites? As long as you’re not, again, forcing your jaws to open wide, then you’re in good shape. Eat only as much as you need to at a time to prevent accidentally aggravating your TMJ disorder with huge mouthfuls.

If It Takes Lots Of Chewing, Give It Up

If you’re eating something that requires quite a lot of effort and time to break down (like taffy), think again: This is bad news for your TMJ disorder!
